Something to consider for FAOL

I am a member of another online group (not fly fishing/tying related), but another terrific group of folks none the less. That being said, every year we have a Birthday Bash celebrating the ?birthday? of the website. The members and some commercial sponsors donate items to the bash and everyone (not really everyone but lots of members) purchase raffle tickets via PayPal. All proceeds go towards supporting the upkeep and maintenance of the site. It's always loads of fun and builds comradery amongst the members while raising money for the site.

I realize that this can be a touchy issue as indicated by some of the responses during the JC Memorial Bench raffle. I still think it would be a good idea to consider and would be totally on a voluntary basis so people don?t feel forced to join in the fun. Your thought?

Like the general idea, though I would like to see the proceeds of the drawing go elsewhere. Now before others start slamming me about not supporting this site, I do. I visit, I read, I post and most of all I SHOP AT OUR SPONSORS SITES. Which in turn continues their sponsorship and pays the bills for the site. If the Administrators and owner of the site wanted to set up a conservation fund that say helped knock down dams or promote fly fishing to yougsters than I'm all for it, sign me up.

Couldn't the proceeds be split, some for the sight, some for whichever needy fund is chosen at the time??
