A vise from Japan
This is a sleek little vise from Japan. It is the "CTV"...."Complete Tier's Vise".. The only drawback is that it does not move laterally. Only vertically.
The vise is manufactured by Smith Ltd. of Japan in their Marryat Fly Fishing Tackle Division.
Thought some might be interested in seeing it. As you can see, there is a knurled knob in the middle of the vise stem which can adjust tension so that the vise head can be moved vertically in nearly any angle.

Hi Byron,
How do you find the hook holding ability in the larger hook sizes? The jaws appear to close from the back towards the tips, is this correct? I am also curious what the inside surface of the jaws looks like?
Cheers,

It looks like it would be a good travel vise. What's the weight of the vise?

Hans,
Hi, it holds hood very well. The vise operates the same as Fran Betters' vise I posted a while ago. The swing arm moves "forward" to open the jaws and to the rear to lock the hook in the jaws.
Will try to post a few more pics when I get a chance.
Tyrone,
It would be OK for travel. Of course, it has a bit of weight as the base must weigh over 3 lbs.
