I.D. needed
There is a fly called a Monga Ringtail. Two of the material components are tufts of white and black hair from a Monga Ringtail. When I suggested that the tail in question looked like a Lemur I was informed that there was a North American animal called a Monga Ringtail.
I can find no information on such critter. Is there such a thing?

There is a mammal called a ringtail, Bassariscus astutus, also known as a "miner's cat". Native to western North America.
Google it and you can see pics.

Very interesting. I read several items that came up on google when I searched for the monga ringtail. Couldn't find out anything about the critter itself, but Bob Jacklin from West Yellowstone has an "ancient" and highly regarded fly using the material.
My suggestion would be to contact Jacklin's shop and get the scoop first hand.

Ray,
Are you in need of some Ringtail cat fur? If so, drop me a PM as I believe I have one around here somewhere.

Monga intacta
Monga Intacta, is a Ring-tail Possum, found along the Mongarlowe River in the Monga Forest of Austrailia.
That is why you might not have hard time try to search for information.

Parn, Monga Intacta is not the name of the critter. Read the text on that site.
I figure they mean some sort of Australian opossum for the fly. There are more than a dozen species of "ringtailed opossum". Not sure as to the legal status of the critter, but in the US, ringtails apparently can be trapped in some states and furs are available: http://www.hideandfur.com/inventory/7290.html
Hide and Fur also has Australian opossum furs, no photo though, at http://www.hideandfur.com/inventory/7230.html
