Mid-Ohio Smallies
Well, I've been waiting to see if he would post up on it, but must be waiting for me. Fellow FAOLer brhoff, my friend Rob (who I'd never fished with) and me ventured out to a Columbus gem that is definitely a "diamond in the rough." Brhoff offered to share some little honey holes he's found over the summer this year and it was a great little get together.

The morning air was cool, but clear and the flows were 6 or so inches below what is considered optimal. Still, it was a beautiful morning to be out with good company.

The smallies certainly are anticipating the cold months to come and have been gorging on shad. We all caught a couple and had an excellent time out.

The shorter days are certainly starting to change some of the leaves as well.

Sorry, didn't post about the trip but sure happy we made it. Today flow was PERFECT BUT no fish, not one...this was the first time all year I was officially SKUNKED!
Great pics, thanks for posting.

WOW, skunked???
I guess the season may well be over here, eh??
Here are a few more pics for those of you wondering, including a very healthy 18"+ that brhoff brought in.

Mind...shown holding a pretty good fish???....Nah!
BUT I must correct, only about 15" on that one...per my unscientific measure system....hold up to rod and guestimate.
Don't you all get jealous over that fancy vest I wear, it's vintage and I bet you want one too...looks like a K-Mart smock!
I still feel a little bad over that Smallie, that "should have been" Rob's fish...I was holding back from coaching too much but seriously, that was hooked right in front of him...I now truly wish I had brought him upstream a touch and coached the drift but he did get a couple of Smalls on his first time out for them...bettter than I can claim!

Nice pics, Ryan. Sounds like a good time was had by all.

Wild One,
WOW, just took a look at the whole album and must say, you obviouly have a talent for the photo!
You really captured that "urban flow" at all the best angles and really made it shine!
-
Why thank you gents.
I was really happy to actually have some subjects to photograph this time out. I almost always go solo, so it was good to capture some fellow anglers!
Oh and thanks for mentioning that it was Rob's first time out for small mouth. I forgot to mention that earlier.
Rob hails from Utah, as do I, and our wives got to talking and found out that we both have a fondness for the long rod. That was actually the first time I'd ever said more than "Hello" to Rob. He did do pretty well for his first time out after some big mouthed warm water fishies, though I did catch him tossing a small parachute mayfly (might have been a 14 or 16 sz)... Old habits die hard.
I guess that was alright, since it was during the middle of that mayfly hatch. And, truth be known, I tied a BHGRHESHN (mouth full eh?) on underneath my gurgler for a while. Even caught one little rock bass on it!
Here's one more picture that I think turned out pretty well.
