Looking for a good source of hackle just for dry fly tails. I guess I need a good place to just buy spade hackle. Any recommendations would be great. Thanks

There was a thread here recently about this. Did you see it? Search online for Whiting Cd'L tailing packs. Lots of spades feathers with speckled hackles and many dyed colors. I posted a photo of some I have.
I've been using the stuff from Charlie Collins http://www.collinshacklefarm.com for years and really like it.

Scott
Charlie Collins sells Spades in overstuffed zip lock bags. Very reasonable and excellent quality. He's located in Pine City, NY. If you need more contact infomation, email or PM me.

Ever try micro fibbetts? They work well and are really convenient.
Contact Denny from Conranch ( http://conranch.com/ )
he'll set you up with something.

I've found that a lot of feathers in "bugger packs" and many hen hackles are both long enough and stiff enough to use for tailing material.

I use them instead of hackle. I buy artists brushes for $4.00 at Michaels. See below for the brush I used to tie the parachute adams. The tips are lined up on the brush, just clip and tie.
