Brook Trout Streamer
Hi,
A while back I got looking for some patterns to immitate brook trout. I came across this pattern on the internet, which apparently is an old pattern. Again, this is tied on a size 4 79580 Mustad hook, which is just fantastically large to me. Anyway, the dressing is fairly straight forword:
Kelsey Brook Trout
tail: white and red hackle fibres mixed
body: dark green cheneil (I used Uni Emerald Green floss)
rib : flat gold tinsel (Uni #14 gold/silver)
underwing: fox squirrel tail (this is quite sparse)
overwing : furnace hackle
hackle : red and white hackle, wound together
head : black with 3 or 4 coats of clear cement

The red/white tail and hackle puts me in mind of a parmachene belle, which was said to immitate a brook trout fin. The P-Belle is a very productive fly for me so I thought I would tie this up. Then, forgot to, until tonight (after the season has closed). However, salmon season is still running and I suppose I could try and bother them with this if I get out again?
