Fly tying stuff is gone.
After not selling my fly tying tools and materials on Ebay, I took melk's suggestion and donated the entire lot to my closest "Project Healing Waters" group. I loaded up my SUV and made a 30 minute drive to a filling station in a city down the interstate a ways. He was there waiting for me and it went smooth. I had some trepidation as I was handing the boxes over. Thinking, "What if I want to tie flies again?" "How am I going to...?"
Meanwhile John was telling me about the fellas in his group, how much they enjoy tying flies and fishing
them with rods they have built. The places they go and the good it does them. I thanked him for a job well done and for letting me clean out my tackle shack.
Thanks to Mike aka melk for the suggestion. I feel a lot better about it now. Jim

Jim,
I will be doing the same thing in the near future, just need to get all my tying 'stuff' together. I am going to include a number of really nice fly rods that I am not using as well as the reels and lines to go with them. Project Healing Waters is a great organization and I know that everything I donate will be appreciated and get the use it deserves. I am keeping the flies I have as I donate them to my club and the Washington State Council - Fly Fishers International.

Hi Larry. I have given the majority of my rods and reels to grandkids and nephews. I am gathering up a few floating lines, spools of tippet and leaders, and rod building equipment to pass along to Project Healing Waters. It's good to know there's a place that will get use out of my things that would end up in the trash if I die before I'm rid of it. Jim

Jim,
I know they will really appreciate the rod building equipment as well. In fact, right now they are having a rod building competition going on. I believe they have one every year so your equipment will definitely get used.

Kudos ...
... to both of you, Jim and Larry ! And to you, too, melk !
I'm not to the point of giving up fly tying, but will try remember when that time comes to follow your EXCELLENT example.
Can't speak for the Board, but certainly a lot of us are really proud of you guys.
Thanks.
John

Awesome guys. I will keep that option in the back of my mind.
