TFO TiCr
Has anyone had lengthy experience with the TiCr series? I've heard that some of them are breaking. Most of this is coming from people in Alaska that a freind of mine fishes with. I know some of you here are TFO fans so I value your opinions moreso. Thanks and God Bless!

no problems with mine.. haven't fished Alaska, but it works for salt in VA.

I have had lengthy experience with them. Do you think I would put a company on here as a rod sponsor if they had a breaking problem? If the 'word' is from Alaska that "some people" are breaking rods, then either the 'word' is wrong,,, or the 'people' are. So far,,, since the company started, I have never known this to happen.

TFO TiCR breaker here.
I have a six weight that "I" broke the tip off of last November. I was using a shooting head that had too large a loop connection at the running line and while stripping streamers at Pyramid lake i broke the tip off. I have never had any trouble with the TFO rods other than that and i own 3. The company got my 25$ and sent me a brand new tip section. The whole exchange took 8 days. I couldn't be more pleased with them.

Good info to know. I think maybe the info came from some guy's that have alot of money to spend and won't fish with anything that costs less than $600. You have to spend that much before the rod will catch anything you know. Thanks for the info.
Castwell,
How is that old Montague that I sold you a couple of years back? Did it go on the wall like you said? I bought and sold another one a while back. Wish I could find more of those at our fleamarkets down here but they are thinning out.

On the wall,,, love it. :)

I am surprised that "breaking rods in Alaska" is news on any level....

I've landed several of these guys with my TiCr 8wt and it is still going strong.

By far, the vast majority of rods break due to accident or user error. I know someone who was disappointed that their TiCr tip broke three times. I saw the third break happen. User error - same way the previous two breaks happened. I have watched people pull on some pretty big fish correctly and not one broken rod.

I have seen a lot more Sages and Loomis break than TFO rods,,,of course that is because more of them are fished!!!! Truth is they all break for various reasons mostly due to operator error often combined with an earlier forgotten about clouser hit. I certainly have broken my fair share of rods over the years, but I do believe I can honestly say per hour of angling effort I have bust as many (maybe even more) Sages than TFO rods for whatever the reason!
