I recommend you swing by and pick me up, feed me steaks and beer, and I will point out my old secret spots to you.
Updated about two years ago, The Flyfishers Guide to Montana.Depending on what partof Montana, get the National forest service maps appropriate for the area you are visiting, as well as the Delorme Gazeteer for Montana.
While you are thinking about books, you might want to follow the link.

I'd pick up a copy of Fly Fishing Montana by Brian & Jenny Grossenbacher..great guides and they are based out of Bozeman...
If your fishing YNP pick up both of the park books....there is one by Craig Matthews and one by Richard Parks. Cheers.
You've gotten great advice.
You might also want to pick up a used copy of the Montana Angling Guide 2nd edition (about 2 bucks) http://www.amazon.com/Montana-Anglin.../dp/0961470429
It has detailed maps with access points, fly recommendations, and detailed info on YNP.
Another good resource for you is Parks Fly Shop's YNP trip planner with detailed info on the major river systems in and out of the park:

Good luck and have a great trip!

not meaning to be funny but theres a lot of free info on the internet.
just go to google and type in (for instance) "fly fishing montana" or "fly fishing south western montana" and search the results
the results will bring up fly shops, river reports, fly patterns, guides etc etc etc
Check out John Holt's Montana Fly Fishing Guides (East and West). They're a little dated but still have a lot of useful information.

Scott
Thanks guys for all the info. I'll be following up on your suggestions.
