loop - Danville Flat wax cream
rib - x-small wire copper
body - pheasant tail (optional - use same dubbing as thorax)
shuck/shellback - Congo Hair brown
thorax - dubbing pale yellow
wing - CDC cream
hackle - ginger

mash barb, start thread; tie in rib, wrap to bend

tie in PT; wrap to 2/3 mark, tie off/trim

Does this pattern float horizontal or vertical? and where do you put the floatant?
Most cripple patterns are fished vertically and work very well. When I see bugs stuck to a shuck floating by, they are always horizontal with shuck in the film. Sometimes the fish get picky for vertical and sometimes horizontal.

Thanks. The ones I tied floated pretty much horizontally; I just apply floatant to the front half.
