That puppy is gorgeous!!! How old was he/she when you started training? Seems so tiny to be standing on those bricks!
Betty,
We got him a week ago and he was 15 weeks old when we got him.

Awesome. Borders are great dogs. Mine is over 15 years old and although she has slowed down some she will still play like a puppy. Best of luck with your new Border Collie.
Hi Biot,
Haven't seen you in a liong time. Best of luck with your new addition. No doubt he'll be a handful. Better keep him busy, lol.
Bye the way, I go to a local 'dog park' and a woman has been bringing her border collie pup for the last few weeks. He look just like yours but he has 2 blue eyes. He has no fear and literally jumps over my rottie when he's playing. Of course my rottie is so social, he doesn't mind.
Hey, what's his name?
Allan
Allan,
His name is Enzo, after Enzo Ferrari. He will be busy, since my wife's passion is dog agility. She was a fly fishing fanatic until she got into agility trials. I don't think she has picked up a fly rod in 5 years, LOL! We may do some herding and dock dog competition, too.

That's a gorgeous puppy. Enjoy the puppy breath while you can, pretty soon it becomes dog breath. Borders are terrific dogs and you'll really get some exercise with your dog.

Does the pup have a little Australian shepherd in it? The spotted coloration reminded me of a dog my Uncle Tom had. She was a natural herder, he had two bulls, the dog would not allow both of them in the same part of the barnyard. No one trained her to do it, she just knew to keep bulls apart.
Uncle Jesse,
The color is what is known as blue merle. I have seen aussies, shelties, and border collies, that are that color. Aussies are great dogs, too, and I would love to have one. All of the herding breeds have the instinct to herd whatever is near them, but it is stronger in some than in others. They are all great dogs, but they have to have a job to do or they will make one up, LOL!

Swap the colors around and that pup reminds me of a border collie I had as a boy. We had no fence around our yard but Grandma had no problem letting my little brother out in the yard alone with the dog at age 2. Rags would grab Brian by the diaper and drag him back in the yard if he set foot on the sidewalk. That dog had a job herding my little brother.
That is a great looking pup.
