Cheap neck hackle
I have been looking for some cheap neck hackle. The best two I have found so far is Cabela's brand for around 20 dollars and some on Hook and Hackle for around 26. I was just wondering if anyone had used either of these or had an idea of the quality.

It all depends on, in what context, that you are using the word "CHEAP"!
1. Low in price.
2. Worth more than its price.
3. Low quality or value.
If you are looking for exceptional value, at a reasonable cost, with excellent service: then let me recommend Denny Conrad's Conrach Hackle (FAOL Sponsor).
His hackle is the best at very reasonalbe price. All capes, and half capes, have the same top level quality. The only difference in the capes is the amount of usable hackle. ~Parnelli

Allstar,
Most catalogs carry imported necks for around 5-7 dollars. I would recommend that you try tying with a couple of these. They will make you appreciate really good hackle when you change over to genetic feathers. I have to agree with Steve that Denny's grade 3 necks are a lot of "Bang for the Buck.
When I started tying the imported necks were all that we had. They were short, had a stem like a truck spring and had few hackles smaller than #16. I like to tell everyone that I started tying when all hackle was bad. Good luck. 8T
