VA Fly Fishing Festival
I know it's still over a month away, but who's excited about the VA Fly Fishing Festival? I am because I haven't been able to make it the last two years despite all of my efforts. And this year it looks like I'll DEFINITELY be able to go, especially since I'll be within walking distance. So who's going? I'd love to meet some more FAOLers.

Mark,
Unless something unforeseen happens, I plan to be there. It's a great show, but for me the highlights are getting together with 2 great friends (both FAOLers), Grubb (Tim) & Dotman (Jerry). Jerry has a booth at the show & we'll more than likely all go out to dinner (probably Friday night), & of course, Tim & I will hit the waters. Tim put me onto my 1st ever wild brookie last year.
Shoot me a PM & we'll just expand this little group!

Hey, the more the merrier. If the same as last year, we'll get together for dinner Friday night, at least Tim (Grubb) & I will go fishin' Saturday (maybe Friday & Sunday too) for brookies?, browns?, smallies?,....who knows? Show & maybe fishing the South River Sunday. Jerry (Dotman) & I have talked about maybe staying over until Monday. Of course, I don't make a trip without bringing along plenty of peanut butter fudge, & if I know who will be there, I'll make up some boxes for everyone. If you're going, shoot me a PM & I'll furnish my cell number so we can get together when we arrive.

I just talked to Grubb & Jerry this morning. Tim lives in Luray, VA & it looks like he'll have his 2 days off, & Jerry & I have our room reserved, so we'll most likely go to dinner Friday night & the rest of the weekend is gonna be fishing & show going. Everything's falling into place very nicely.

C'mon now folks! They have plenty of picnic tables at the Festival...wouldn't it be a good thing to see one or two of 'em FILLED with FAOLers?
Post here if you're going & PM me for my cell# so we can meet up. Better yet, buy a hat from Betty & we'll find YOU!!

If you wouldn't mind an "outsider" meeting up with you guys I would like to put some faces with some of the names I read everynight. Mainly a lurker, very infrequent poster. Read about you being there last year and had no idea that took place in Waynesboro.
According to the map, it shows the "point" being on Wayne Ave around Fishburn Military School. Is that where the show will be? According to the brochure it says it is on the bank of the South River. Is that in the park with the swimming pool?--or at least a pool used to be there. I will go back and check it out a little closer.
I grew up in Waynesboro and used to know that river like the back of my hand. But that was 50 years ago so Im sure things have changed a lot since then.
If I dont get a chance to see any of you at least I will go to the show. I will just be driving over the mountain from Lynchburg at least on Saturday.

George,
When we hang out, there are NO outsiders! You are part of our FAOL family & we'll be glad to have you join us. Tim (Grubb) can certainly shed more light on this, but the Festival (as I recall) is right in town, concrete bridge, & the park is across the main street. I THINK that's accurate, but that's an ol' Irishman thinking, & that can be dangerous.
PM me (and that goes for ALL who want to meet) & I'll give you my cell#. Jerry & I will be getting in Friday, 4/18, & we're staying over until Monday, 4/21. In addition to the show, there will be fishin', eatin', & just hangin' out...as I stated before, the more, the merrier. If I have an idea how many of us will be getting together, I'll pack in enough of my peanut butter fudge to make a box for everybody to take home, plus what we;'ll snack on there. May make some jerky too.
