Crooked River, Oregon
Took a sojourn to the Crooked to see if the whitefish were hungry. The river was slightly high but fishable. Trout were quite active and raising quite often. I caught 5 or 6 trout along with 15 whitefish. It was a fun trip and I will try to return after the whitefish get done spawning which is usually around Christmas.
If you look closely at the fish you will se a fly in its mouth. The fly is a #14 which shows how small their mouth is. Despite the small mouth they will eat a much larger fly.
The shoe tree is located about 25 miles east of Bend near the town? of Alfalfa.

Great looking whitefish and rod reel combo. Nice shoe tree too....did you add to it?

Hey there Tim and all sorry the Crook didn't fish that well for you, as far as bows go. My dad and I fished it on Sunday and I lost track after forty five bows and dad stopped counting after thirty. We only fished a few miles below the dam on a quarter mile stretch that has always fished good in the past before the huge release of water a couple years back. I am glad to see it making a come back. The middle Deschutes on the other hand has been excellent as usual. The browns are staging for their spawn and if it's anything like last year, oh ya, bring it on! :)
Cheers
