I have fished the Amago many times, landed several trout in the 20 in range on the Madison in MT.
Kewl..this is the rod I'm most interested in..the length n price are more in line with my needs.. now nymphs..weighted nymphs mostly..how's it handle say a pair of size 10 hares ears?? On say a 20 ft 3.5 line?
Yeah for the money I think the Amago is the way I need to go.. the vid of Daniel landing a 24" carp in 1 min 12 sec.. n by no means horseing the fish.. not that I wanna pursue them but knowing if I happen to hook one the rod can survive it is a plus in my book
And I like the extra length over the other rod as well I want to fish longer lines of day 20 ft regularly...it just seems to me to help out in fighting bigger fish I know this will be a smallmouth rod a good deal of the time!
The new Dragontail HELLbender fits this mold perfectly and less than the Amago
Mr moonlit... thank you for your input!
And after much consideration and debate..my order for the new hellbender will be going in tomorrow evening! Love that it can be fished shorter or at a full 13 ft. And it has the swivel as does the tenkarabum36.. so this is essentially both of the aforementioned rods in one..n for a lower price than either.. perhaps you've pointed me toward nirvana! I'll prolly be in need of a second.. I have kids! Lol but we shall see how the first impresses itself upon me!
