Hi OSH. Do you mean still in production? I know a lot of folks will be telling you about great rods that "just ain't available no more!"

St.Croix legend Ultra 9' 3wt.
But alas it's no longer made.
Might have to try an XP 903 next go around.

Ian - The wader answer depends on what kind of waters you will fish and when. Do you want light weight breathables or cold water neoprene? IMHO Cabela's is hard to beat for quality and price either way. They offer a wide selection of brands and types. They have decent products in your price range. As always, it is best to try on first, but they also have good return policy if you mail order.
My favorite fly rod...my 8ft #6, 2 piece Irish Republic "Jewel" bamboo. I have fished this rod since 1973 and it is still my goto stick. Otherwise...Phillipson "Master" glass, 6 footer on the small creeks.
Good thread. I will be on the Garden River in September with an 8 wieght graphite for the pinks...see you there?

I have rods made of various materials, lengths, line wts, actions, price range and nationality.
My favorite is the one I'm holding in my hand.
