Check this out, seller has 12 sales all positive under his belt probably a good guy then right? Yeah right look at the ratings comment page looks to me like all of the previous sales are fake all of them are buyers with a single purchase to their credit without an identifiable name all are a random grouping of letters and numbers.
just another case of buyer beware.

I just emailed ebay a fraud warning about that guy and all the feedback user id's as well. looks like a mess.

Holy Crow!!!!
He could have been a bit more creative with his feedback comments http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/smile.gif

You folks going to pass up such marvelous prices on those genuine, real, authentic, bonafide rods?
Do you think anyone actually buys from these creeps?
I reported those folks a couple months ago. NEver heard from ebay.

Check out the "items" sold by them by clicking on the auction item numbers for those items sold....it's better than the feedback. That's why you check these folks out.

I wonder if all 12 of his his feedbacks coming in a 1 hour and three minute timespan is a tip off ? I hate to turn down real buys on ebay but sometimes I do just because they don't have 50 or more positive feedbacks . Although I myself have only 16 or so . I sometimes get rejected for this reason , I understand it , but I don't have to like it . Good for you reporting these guys is very important .

Boy, this guy's good...NOT!
The sad thing is people will fall for it.

Dear gonfishin,
I buddy of mine alerted me to those auctions too.
Notice the seller is shipping from China. I'm sure he's legit. ;-)

If you read this guys auctions they have been translated to English and the currency is Euros. I suspect that is the reason for the seemingly non-sensical Ebay ids and the feedback comments showing up as question marks - those things were not translated and an English displaying browser can't make sense of them. Each feedback comment is associated with an item that is the same way. If you work your way through the feedback chain you will come to many members with feedbacks ratings close to a thousand.
I'm not necessarily defending this guy, as I have no reason to do so. I'm only suggesting that while using caution on Ebay is prudent I have been buying and selling there for over 7 years and I have never had a problem. If you pay for your items with PayPal you are pretty well protected from fraud. You can read about the PayPal buyer protection service on their website.
In my experience Ebay is VERY MUCH on top of fraud protection and they will absolutely not hesitate to shut someone down. If several of you have emailed Ebay about this seller several times and they are still listing items they are probably legitimate.
Someone mentioned the low starting price of the auctions and the fact that it should have been a tipoff that it's fake. I've seen this mentioned several times on FAOL and I don't understand it. Listing an item with a low starting price is a marketing tool, plain and simple. Buyers will bid on the auction with the lowest price. However, once they've started bidding tunnel vision, determination, and the spirit of competition often take over and they continue to bid. Items with a low starting price will often ultimately go for a much higher price. For example, when the Sony PSP (hand held gaming device) came out last year I went in with a friend and we bought 8 or 9 of them to sell on Ebay. This was a $249 item at full retail. The first couple we listed at a fairly high starting price (still well below retail) with a reserve. We made a profit on them, but not much. We then started listing them with a starting price of 99 cents and no reserve and our final selling price immediately went up considerably. The low starting bid is a marketing tool and it works. Period.
Again, don't rail on me for trying to defend this guy. I'm not. I'm just trying to make a few points that seem to have been overlooked.

Edited to add the extremely long story in the middle about the PSPs.

This scam has been running on Ebay for the last several months. Ebay keeps busting them, they keep signing up a new account. Abel reels, Sage rods, Winston rods and other spendy fly gear. The pattern is always the same. Seller has a China location. Feedback that is all on the same day and payment by Western Union transfer. Very short auction time.
