Mink????
I picked up a tan mink collar and two cuffs and a collar of brown mink for .50 today.
the question is do I just cut it off and use it like dubbing or cut it into zonker strips or what?
I also picked up more peacock than I will use in 10 years for $2
thanks for your time reading my rambelings

Re: Mink????
Mink,
I have a piece myself, great stuff.
Now you can make dubbing with it, cut it for zonkers, and make wings for small streamers and wet flies.
I use it for all three purposes and it suits them all nicely. I would split it up into the three categories, Make your dubbing, Bag it up. Then cut the zonker strips, bag them up to. And then just leave a patch for wings!
Good deal on the peacock, Lucky!

Re: Mink????
Didn't know where you were going with that post for a minute. Thought you were going to spruce up your vest with the collar but the cuffs had me stumped...
If it's long and stiff enough, you might use some of the guard hairs for for tailing on dries too.

Re: Mink????
I find that mink is better than rabbit for small nymphs in the GRHE or Red Fox Squirrel Nymph style. The underfur is very soft for dubbing and the guard hairs nice and spiky. Strips are good for both little leeches and for the abdomen on hexegenia nymphs (see Gary Borger). The colour also seems very natural when wet too. One of my favourite materials, and so cheap when you get it as you did.
