That's a beauty Hans. Over the last few years I've been using a lot of softer game bird hackles on the front of a palmared cock body. Usually I use quite a short fibred dry fly cock hackle on the body. I think I'll be tying some of those for my box. In fact would you do me a favour? Take that post down! I think that could be a real killer fly and wouldn't want just anyone using it. ;)
Cheers,
A.

Hans, that's a very nice looking fly and I'll bet it would work well on brookies.
Will you be taking the post down before, or after you post the video?
:)

Would you believe it, disaster I've no woodcock!!! Looks like I may have to use golden plover instead.

Go ahead, rub in the fact you actually have those sorts of options!
I do have a couple snipe skins though that were shot within 1/2 mile of home...

You can to! Steve at Cookshill does get them from time to time. You need to be ready when he has them. He sends huge amounts of material to the States so can advise if there is likely to be any problems. Woodcock is the most difficult of birds to skin, Its skin is like tissue paper, but Steve does produce skins.
We have woodcock locally, but as I gave up shooting some years ago (personal reasons - I still support your right to go shooting), I can't get you any myself. I'll ask those I know who do shoot if they have any wings. I may be able to get hold of a pair for you if you would like.
Cheers,
A.

I appreciate the offer, but I am happy enough with my snipe... and I have been known to visit the old family farm (in NY) and chase them myself.
To be honest it is the selection among the shorebirds I envy more. We can use rails and other game birds, but plovers do not make that category here. And we did not mention heron...
Thanks again for the offer!
