Good points. Good, SHORT and TO-THE-POINT video.
And no need to push and pull the fish thru the water to "revive" him. Fish don't do this in the water, do they?........................... I didn't think so ;)
Great info and true in all cases of catch and release.
Good fish handling but he drops his rod and reel in the water and it begins to wash away. Fly shops will love it. Sand in the drag, a dinged up reel and possible a broken rod if you happen to slip or step on the rod.
What were they thinking when they saw that on editing?
They werent thinking..
"Leave the fish in the water".....Kinda tough to do if your fishing from a BOAT!
And one thing they didnt add...was that if you pick the fish up...and DO NOT touch the "lateral line"...the fish dont squirm.....they lay still in your hands!
what about bass, crappie etc, are they any less susceptable to rough handling than trout? i've never fished seriously for bass, caught a couple and released in the water from a float tube.
ha! how about that. 30 posts, now i'm a member.
I am with Sully totally. This is great practice on the river and I can Honestly say I try to do this, but from a drift boat, bending over? I have been trying to keep them in the water on my Pontoon and Tube, that is working good, plus cool pictures.
But the squirming and maybe swimming away before you can get the camera ready...small price for survival to NOT get that shot of all of them.
I like the article I read that mentioned, run as hard as you can, then go under water...how long can you hold your breath. Same is true of a played fish.
And don't forget...wet hands and no gill plates.
Don't wear them out to exhaustion....and wet your hands first. I think folks can over-think things at times.
