i have a cane rod that i like alot to say the least. I know not to carry it in my Jeep in the very hot summer temps, what I want to know is what effects cold temps may have on it. I would like to be able to keep it in my Jeep at all times most of the year, but, don't want to mess up and wish I hadn't left it in there so any help would be nice thank you for your input, I don't wanna find out the hard way on this...:)
Won't hurt a thing. I carry my cane rods in the back of the truck year round. No problems of any kind. Cane rods are a lot tougher than most people think.
If your rod was made after WW II it probabally was not glued together with hide glue. More than likley it was glued together with a form of urea-formaldihide glue which is not sensitive to moisture or heat.

There are a few things on your rod that could be affected by prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures:
The varnish could soften enough to stick to the bag
The glue used to adhere the ferrules and reel seat could expand/contract enough that they come loose
If the rod w/bag fits tight in the rod tube, heat can cause a set to develope, particularly where the tips rest against the grip
All of these problems can be fixed, but you could easily avoid them by just taking the rod with you when you go inside.

The rod is carried in a sock inside a metal tube, the hot temp I know about with the ferrals coming loose and thought the vernish may be efficted, i was mmore interested in coulder temps or normal temps rather that are not above 85, the rod stays in my house year round with hot and cold temps that are modereted but changes just the same...

I have an Orvis Battenkill from the 1940's that I used to fish all winter long in sub-freezing temps with no ill effects except frozen guides.
