Spawned last weekend in south Louisiana...
I can hardly wait!
After this week's storm blew through on Wednesday and has left yesterday and today (Friday) cool and windy, winds are set to subside and temperatures this weekend into next week are forecast to reach the 60s. I plan to try to catch my first warmwater fish of the season on my lunch hours this coming week.
I love fly fishing for specks!
The ice is just beginning to melt off the local ponds here in central Iowa. Some edges are starting to open up a bit.
Crappies are a blast to flyfish for! :)
Lorrin, Susan and self wandered over to Clearlake Wednesday and pestered the crappie. We brung home many for filleting and will distribute some today to a few "not able to fish"er's. The limit is 25 per person, so plenty were filleted. Lorrin used a baitfish immi and a bobber on his 3wt. Susan and self used baitfish immi's with clear intermediate lines. The fish in the bucket ranged from a few just under 9" to a couple just barely 12". The fish were receptive from about 4' to 10' deep.
What a hoot.....
