This coming weekend will mark exactly 2 years since I finally gave up smoking for good. Was a long hard road after being a pack&a half a day smoker but by far the best decision I ever made for myself in my entire life.

Congratulations Steve. 21 years for me and the best thing I could have done.
WOW!! Has it been that long! I remember you posting about quitting, seems like yesterday. Congratulations AWESOME job, Your health will pay you back 100 times.
What John said. That is great for you and your family. You will probably be around long enough to become a real codger. I will bet that people don't go "Ouuu" after you walk past any more. They did before you quit because you smelled terrible. Congrats again.
Well done Steve, I bet you are realy starting to be able to taste your food again! I gave up 23 years ago and apart from the health reasons the biggest bonus for me was how good my beer tastes now that my taste buds are recovered.
All the best.
Mike
Congratulations! I'm sure there's many here who can attest to how hard it is to quit those things... Here's to year 3!
Eleven smoke free years after 35 smoking. Congratulations Steve.
3 packs a day then 2 packs a day and then I quit in August of 2010. Gained some 20 lbs. but have managed to get rid of that too. I used to like the smell of a fresh lit cigarette but now it's awful!! You should try to make it up to Gate's Lodge for the cookout on June 24th, I'll have some "Popcorn Sutton" Tennessee White Whiskey to celebrate our Freedom from Addiction with. I can assure you that you will never take a drink of the Demon Rum again!!
Jack, that reminds me of my granddad, Pap as we called him. My brother told me back when Pap was alive, my brother was visting and going to run over to the country store some something and ask Pap if he could bring him anything, a pack of cigarettes, etc., He said Pap responds "Tom, I quit smoke April 4, 1964." I am sure he rolled a cigarette out of his last can of Prince Albert and quit. I sure do miss seeing him, wish I had saved the PA cans. They are collector's items now.
Thanks everyone...Quote:

Jack that is so true. I use to LOVE the smell of the first smoke in the morning and I never would have thought I would not like the smell. Now just walking through a store I can tell who is a smoker because I smell them when they walk by. Never thought I would not like the smell but your right, now it stinks when I smell it.
