really frustrated
Went fishing today. Went to a lake that is a no brainer for catching fish. Cast anything from a float tube work it back and bam fish on. these are fish from 6"-12". I took my trusty 3 weight which I have not caught anything on. First trip with 3 weight I kept breaking leaders lost fly's not happy. today I decide to put a new leader on and I used a castwell knot to attach it to the fly line. I love the castwell know it never fails. I get a nice hit and then it was gone. Brought my line up for another cast and no leader no fly.
I am putting the 3 weight up and never using it again. Everytime I take it out it is something or another going wrong. I have yet to catch a fish with it. I feel the rod is jinxed. Thanks for listening

Re: really frustrated
What brand of fly line do you have on your reel? I've found that I have to be more careful setting the leader knot with certain brands of fly line that are more stiff and slippery. Maybe try a drop of UV cement on your knot next time. I frequently use braided loop ends, and I always secure these with a drop of UV cement too. DANBOB

Re: really frustrated
I would be happy to give that rod the proper ceremony to rid it of its jinx.
Just send it on over, I'll even pay the shipping. 8)

Re: really frustrated
My wife bought me the rod so I will keep it. Danbob I was using cabela's fly line. I can not believe the castwell know gave way I have never had problems with it in the past heck I have caught 26" browns on my fly rod with the castwell and it never gave.
