I discovered goose biots at the local Hobby Lobby, a packet of 34 of colors, black, white, red, blue,green and yellow all for $1.99. The last I bought from a Fly Materials catalogue cost me 3 for $1.80. Peacock swords are also vailable along with other interesting feathers. Check it out Okey Payne

i have about 15 dozen peacock swords, some one gave me a ton of peacock, so if you are ever in town, i will give you a bunch :) you can also get doll eyes at craft stores for a great price!

i got goose bitos for even cheaper !!!! actually free :lol: at the local lake !
but they are only natural colors

I love a find like that. Look before you buy I have found some hobby shop / craft store feathers to be more damaged. I just got a pound of white turkey flats that were better that I can get through most suppliers at a craft store so you never know.

I hear Kool-Aid is used also ! And then there's Rit Dye too. What about food coloring? I'm going to try coffee on some creme colored hackle, see what happens...stains everything I spill it on..should work on feathers too !

Just dyed some white hackle yellow using kool aid. Worked great and was simple also. Here is the link to the instructions I used:
