what to do with these hooks?
In the postage swap I put out there, I received back some hooks (thanks xcaddis) with the designation TMC 146Z, by Tiemco. Description: Goetz Quick Eye Dry Fly Hooks.
These hook eyes are shaped like a J with a more closed end. The eye does not close at all, there is a 1-2 mm gap where a normal eye closes.
Any ideas on what/how to tie with these? I know hans has one fly on his site for these.
Re: what to do with these hooks?
maybe dry flies like the description says?? just a guess!
Re: what to do with these hooks?
I picked up some of those too. They are dry fly hooks and the neat thing about them is when you go to attach them to your leader you don't have to worry about poking the tippet through the eye. You just hold the tippet against the side of the hook and pull it forward into the eye. Its good for older well used eyes. :D

normand-- thanks EVER so much for your help!
SJH -- how do they work for you? any trouble with them slipping off the way they slipped on?

I've had no problem with them. Once the knot is tied I think it would be very unusual to have a situation where you would have a backwards pull against the eye that would be strong enough to force the knot slip off that hook.
