Jack Gartside died at the age of 66. He was a person who shucked all the normal responsibilities of society and instead decide to live his dream!

John (Jack) C. Gartside was a well known as fly tier, who was renown for thinking outside the box, with his innovative fly patterns. He was aTrout Bum long before the term was ever invented. A person, who with a college education, deciding instead to take odd jobs, heading out to somewhere in the world, answering the Sirens Call!

Jack decided to live his life as a fisherman, go fly fishing whenever he felt the need to go fly fishing and stand in some far off stream. His passion was to fly fish the rivers and streams all over the world. He was true vagabond, a free spirit, and a King of the Road!

IF I only had the guts to do so.

I got a small feel for that life this past weekend. I was fishing by myself on a cold morning with no one around. I made a fire by the side of the river to warm up by and then cooked a trout over that fire. Was one of the best meals I had ever had.
I thought about what it would be like to just live like that, then it started raining.......
