Beating a Dead Horse
While in Tacomo, WA., My brother and I went to a big fair - The Pullaylup (sp?) fair. There were at least two of these booths there. In each, the cute young girl working there said "I know, you're mad. My uncles are fishermen too and they don't like it".
Actually, I think the fad is on its way out.

I guess we 'more rural folk' are a touch behind the times. At our fair a young lady was selling hair extentions, but they were made of synthetic, more like something you'd wing a streamer with.

I was walking through Kroger's the other day and in front of the check-out there was a stand with all different kinds of hair feathers for sale. I will take a picture next time I go in there and then post it.......KROGERS!! and yes I mean Kroger's the food chain of all places

I have yet to see this trend in my area.
-
Most gift shops I visited on Maui recently had items made from feathers, Ear rings, hair items, hanging chimes ect.....
Several shops had baggies with misc dyed feathers as well..
A real boon for the feather merchants...

Byrun,
Just for info, the city of called Puyallup, you should hear how some people pronounce it. :)

That's funny Byron (Byrun) and sagefisher! I'm hooked on Phonics, so I'll have to look up how to pronounce Puyallup ( formally Pullayup!). LOL!! Btw - Beadheads will follow the Featherheads! Only tapered drilled beads will be acceptable for the trendy!

Well, I'm from Fort Worth... you know down here in Texas? And when the feather thing first hit they were everywhere, on tiny girls, middle school girls, high school girls and even mom's... Just the other day I was in a restaurant eating and these two black ladies walked in with roses made out of schlappen (sp?) stuck in their hair. The feathers looked terrible. I asked them about the feathers and they said that they work in a hair salon and they are using all kinds of feathers now because they can't find any of the long feathers anymore!
Anyway... long story short... you might see feathers in one or two people a week down here now. Just about everyone has quit using them because everyone has them. I think it's about over. :0)

More bad news. I've seen more than one dog groomer that puts feathers on the pampered pooches now. Seems to me that would drive a good bird dog nuts. Oh yeah, false eyelashes made from feathers are getting to be a hot item now too.
