Ceramic blade nippers
My nippers, after being used for larger mono, have become a bit less sharp than before (enough to be an irritation). I saw an ad for Orvis brand ceramic blade nippers and thought I would buy a pair. Interestingly, no longer available--the local Orvis says they are not made any longer--I gather they were manufactured in Japan with very specialized equipment, etc., and for some reason, production has ceased. Nothing like being told you can't buy something to make you want to!
Does anyone know of any ceramic blade nippers that may be available out there? Maybe a pair stuck away in your local Orvis store or ? I have searched the internet--no luck.
Thanks,
ggh

I sharpen my nippers regularly
Takes only a minute

I used to just gnaw the excess tippet and line off with my teeth...like a coyote. Now my teeth aren't as sharp as they used to be, either.
Maybe I should get some ceramic nippers, too!

ggh.....
I purchased a pair of Orvis Ceramic Nippers a few years ago.
They suck !!!
There is a reason that they discontinue items.
I ended up throwing them away.
If you really have to cut heavy mono, get a good pair of pliers with side cutters.

ggh, I'd recommend a good pair of toe nail clippers for about $5.00. I won a ceramic nipper in a raffle and feel like I was took on a freebie. If I hadn't thrown them away I'd send them to you. Actually they worked good for about three fishing trips then one jaw chipped on some 4X tippit??? Jim

You can probably sharpen the cutters on your old ones with an emery board of a dremel tool. I use a cheap pair of nail clippers and they work great.

I sharpen my metal line nippers by holding them in the closed position and holding that flat surface against a honing stone and give them a few strokes and that usually makes them work a lot better.
Just a thought....

I use those cheap metal nail clippers at the beauty sections. They last a long time and the $1 ones I bought came with a guaranty.
