For fun question
I was kicking around the internet looking at Japanese tenkara sites and noticed several pictures of anglers with their left hands in their pockets or wading belts while fishing. I noticed this because I do the same thing when I cast a lot of times. So I was wondering what do y'all, my fellow board members, do with your left, or right, hand while fishing tenkara?

I think the only time I put my off hand in my pocket while fishing is when it is cold out. ;)

My left hand is holding my wading staff, which I cannot recommend highly enough. You have a free hand. Put it to good use. Most people who have wading staffs only use them in deeper water. If you fall in knee deep water you get wet. If you fall in ankle deep water you can break bones. The rocks are just as slick.

When I'm out tenkara fishing in my Hobie kayak I use the off hand for steering. I work the paddles with the legs, fish with the right hand and steer with the left. Reminds me of a one man band.

Only if you're playing a harmonica at the same time.
