Looking forward to heading out again this Saturday. It's a good thing that Miss Betty doesn't know anything about that spot.

    Warren,
I had a ball chasing those non-trouts Saturday. Thanks!

    Warren,

Awhile back, you sent me a couple of furled leaders to try out on my switch rod. I finally went to Alaska- got back last night. Used mainly the furled leader made of fluorocarbon and alternated it with a Rio Sink tip. The furled leader cast better than the sink tip and turned over the big flies just fine. The only problem that I had - and it is not unique to your leader but probably comes with the territory so to speak - was trying to remove the precision loop from the shorb loop. The precision loop on the leader is so tight and blends in so well with the shorb loop, it is a bear to slide them apart, especially when my fingers are wet and cold.

Anyway, overall, I preferred the furled leader to the sinking tip.

    Thanks again,

Warren, I'm so laughing at your post to oldfrat!! I was afraid to post similar thought because it wasn't all that long ago we got ripped to pieces for giving away leaders!! Do you remember that? LOL!!! May be afraid to post it on line, but I continue to send out furled leaders whenever requested! NO cost! Hummm .... wonder where that idea came from? Could it be a letter I received from YOU with a batch of leaders in it????
    Big hugs,
    Betty
  5. Bruce,

Good to hear that the leaders made it and I will look forward to how they work out for you and friends. I fished about 3 hours yesterday in one of my local rivers here that warms up pretty fast and used a bluegill popper and had a blast! I used the S.O.S. mono furled leader which does not sink as fast as the Vanish and it worked great for surface poppers. Keep me posted and come fish with me one of these days.

Hi Warren. Got the leaders, and thanks, I will try them as soon as possible. I went fishing yesterday and was doing fine nymphing in the early morning when my reel broke. So, for awhile, I visited a buddy who lives on the stream. We decided to fish some beetles and crickets in the afternoon. We each caught several fish before we had to leave. The fish aren't readily looking up for them yet, but they will be soon. Your Buddy,

Warren, Tried out the leaders on the switch rod this weekend --- just casting in the river and not fishing --- loved them. Now, looking forward to fishing with them.

Hi Warren: Is this the line you use for the leaders? I can't find it locally, but it can be purchased online.

Hi Warren. Thanks so much for all of the leaders. I realize how expensive they are to buy. I'm going to try the Vanish for nymphing tomorrow, I hope. I plan to connect it to my orange indicator butt section. Then I am going to attach 2 ft. of tippet and another 1 1/2 ft. to attach my point fly. I'll let you know how it goes. I received the leader Thursday, but this is the first night I've been home since last Tuesday. I've been out until dark every night fishing the sulfurs and Green drakes. Well, actually, I kind of missed the Green Drakes. Last night my buddy and I stayed until dark on a stream that's about 50 miles from my apartment. Tons of spinners. I even got out my seine net to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. I was right. The water was covered with rusty spinners. You won't believe it, because I'm still trying to come to terms with it, but there wasn't one rising fish. We were both dumbfounded. Bruce

Fly fishing and fly tying are two things that I do, and when I am doing them, they are the only 2 things I think about. They clear my mind.
