I'm just learning how to do this, so let me try this again.

After a couple of dunks in the river last fall I'm thinking every step in the river is more slippery than it used to be. I suspect the felt soles on my boots need replacing. My question is whether there is a visual way to determine if the felt is no longer doing the job it should. Any help?
