Fishing report, 1/18/2008 San Juan

Rate this Entry
For some reason, Jeremy let me talk him into going fishing early this morning. Real early. 0430 early. Well, he picked me up about then, anyway. And it was only 2 below zero.

Open water at 2 below? San Juan. We arrived about 0645 and hit the water. Visibility was less than a foot, and fishing was tough. And did I mention it was cold? A balmy zero at Navajo Dam, wind chill somewhere on the bottom side of -10.

We fished the Kiddie Pool for a bit, at least until we could see what we were doing, then I dragged, er, showed Jeremy around all the spots from the Texas Hole up. Did I mention it was cold?

But fish did exist, as Jeremy showed somewhere up in the braids:

We finally gave up around midday, too cold and too dirty water for us, and we needed to get back to town anyway for various reasons. We got into a dozen fish or so between us, most of them in the 17-20 range, which was a poor showing but, well...
