why blog?

because there is much to say about fishing that doesn't belong on someone else's thread.

because there are observations on life, the universe, and everything that might enjoy the light of day, but not out on a thread where it seems intrusive.

because the 21st century is out there to enjoy when fishing and baseball aren't possible --sometime between Superbowl Sunday and Pitchers and Catchers Report--and everyone else has one, kind of like an iPod.

Today, my wife who graduated High school with a 1.08 GPA (with applying 1 term of college towards her High school diploma) officially Graduated College, summa cum laude, with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education. She didn't know she had a learning disability and her teachers told her parents she was lazy and just needed to work harder.

I can still remember the day she was reading about dyslexia and said to me,"when your reading do the letters move

I just got back from spending a couple of hours with my wife at our local trout stream. She has only been out once before, and hasn't caught anything yet. We've practiced casting a bit in the yard, but haven't had more than an hour or 2 on the water in the past.
Today was a beautiful day, but not for fishing. It was bright sunshine, and enough wind to make casting tricky on occasion. We decided to try it anyway, since getting time to go out without the kids is tough to do, even though we...
