While the weekend at the lake didn't offer too many hours where I could be out fishing on my own, I did sneak out two mornings and managed to land a few bluegills, a nice largemouth bass, and a small northern pike. Still being a relative novice to the fly world, catching the bass and pike on flies was pretty dang fun. Come to think of it, I've been spin fishing for those guys for 35 years, and it's fun EVERY time I catch one. Still, I can't help but feel a bit of childish excitement from "graduating" to larger fish and different types of flies and techniques (albeit raw and questionable techniques!).

Catching some nice bluegills on a 3-wt was a blast, too.
