Fly Fishing Version of "I'm Gonna Miss Her"

Rate this Entry
This could be why I'm a SINGLE fly fisher:

"I'm Gonna Miss Her" (originally written/sung by Brad Paisley and also known as "The Fishing Song" -- this fly fishing version by Mike Ormsby, based on his adventures as a "Trout Bum")

Well I love her
But I love to fish
I spend all day out on this river
And hell is all I catch
Today she met me at the door
Said I would have to choose
If I hit that fishin' hole today
She'd be packin' all her things
And not the waders or the fishing vest
Or fly rods or boxes of flies or drift boat
I bought her in an attempt to get her out fly fishing
No she'd be leaving for sure
And she'd be gone by noon

so I'm gonna miss her
When I get home
But right now I'm on this river
And the trout are starting to rise
I'm sure it'll hit me
When I walk through that door tonight
Yeah, I'm gonna miss her
Oh, look there, another bite

Now there's a chance that if I hurry
I could beg her to stay
But that water's right
And the weather's perfect
No tellin' what I might catch today
Oh look, I've got a trout on my fly

so I'm gonna miss her
When I get home
But right now I'm on this river
And the trout are starting to rise
I'm definitely matching the hatch
Besides "catch and release" rules
Mean she can always "put me back"
I'm sure it'll hit me
When I walk through that door tonight
Yeah, I'm gonna miss her
Oh, look there, another trout on my fly

Yeah, I'm gonna miss her
But I guess it's another case of "catch and release"
So she just "put me back"
Oh, look there, another trout
